(8) Get Outdoors and enjoy tons of great Activities year round!
One of my favorite things about Hampton Roads is the weather. It is great for the outdoor enthusiasts. I have heard many complaints about the humidity and wet cold but I would take our average lows and highs any day! I've lived in both extremes from the cold midwest where negative temperatures are normal to the hot desert where you feel the dryness and heat of the summer which can be unbearible with over 100 degree temps. Everyone has their own preference but the weather in Hampton Roads is one of my favorite things about this duty station. The average temperature in the winter is 48 degrees and the average high in 88 degrees. What's even better is there are some winters where we see highs in the 70s yet we can also still get a foot of snow. Or, if we don't get snow better yet, we can drive to it. I call that "snow on demand". With the fantastic weather in Hampton Roads comes great opportunity for year round outdoor activities. There are great golf courses (yes you can golf in the winter), great hiking, biking, and national parks to explore. Here's some great spots to check out while your here!
- Golf Courses (Check out Military Tee Times offering Nationwide Military Discounts Off Tee Times)
- Virginia State Parks
