Best Cities for Veteran Homebuyers in 2017
Transitioning servicemembers face many challenges as they integrate back into civilian life. One of the first obstacles any military member must overcome is finding a place to call home.
Veterans United Home Loans, one of the largest VA lenders, put together a list of the top 10 cities for veteran homebuyers to live in the U.S.
Their study compared 100 of the most populated U.S. cities across three dimensions: military culture and services, economic wellness and livability. Of the 18 variables included, each was weighted based on its importance to Veterans. Among the factors involved were percentage of monthly income spent on mortgage payments, cost of living compared to the national average, jobs created in 2015 and percentage of Veterans living below the poverty line.
San Antonio claimed the #1 spot as the best city for Veteran homebuyers to live, followed by Colorado Springs, CO and Jacksonville, FL.
