Our Mission

"Team-Up" utilizes a common interest in aviation as a backdrop platform to establish and foster a connection between homecoming combat veterans, and our volunteer aircraft owners, pilots, and community leaders, for the purpose of mentoring, networking, and assisting the veteran’s integration back to civilian life.

Why "Team-Up"?

Given the best of economic times, integrating back into civilian life for veterans can be a trying ordeal. Coupled with the United States being at war for the longest period in our history, with many veterans serving multiple combat tours against a ferocious enemy, has made the task exponentially more difficult, causing our returning combat troops to face many unique challenges when returning to their “home” communities.

VAC and “Team-Up” offer a unique approach in order to help lighten or counter the challenge, by offering a network of pilots, aircraft owners, and community leaders as mentors and network enhancers.

Our network of volunteer pilots have proven in the past 7 years, that solid mentoring/networking relationships are a natural by-product of the “free private air transportation” provided by VAC in accomplishing combat wounded transportation needs.

Over the years, strong bonding relationships have formed between the many combat wounded veterans we have flown, and our network of volunteer pilots. There is a natural affinity between pilots and veterans. Many of our volunteer pilots have never been in the military, but “Aviators” understand freedom in a very unique way…and thus highly appreciate those who have fought to preserve it. Witnessing the bonding and formed relationships between so many combat troops and our pilot base, we had to find a way to expand the availability of our resources to more of our returning combat veterans. So for us, it was natural to expand this without having to fly across the country, or be on a schedule. Our initiative is designed to link the two for a casual meeting. One possible scenario is; where a volunteer pilot/aircraft owner meets an interested returning veteran “at the airport” for a short trip/flight to introduce him to the freedom of flight… Or it could a simple lunch, dinner, or similar type of casual meeting. The sky is the limit.

Pilots who volunteer with VAC have an overwhelming desire to want to “give back” and to say thank you to our returning veterans. For years they have been doing so by performing VAC’s primary mission of passenger airlift. Now with “Team-Up”, they are able to expand on their talents offering their connections, networking skills, coaching, and friendship/mentoring.
