What is CRU Military?

We are a caring community passionate about connecting the global military community to Jesus Christ.  We are individuals, churches, chaplains … people just like you who are drawn together by a common mission.

The military is a unique culture within any country that requires unique ministry.  It has its own support systems, rhythms of life, and challenges. Today, many military families are separated because of deployments, causing relationship challenges that many civilians do not face. Many men and women in the armed forces experience and have to learn to cope with the effects of war.  Common challenges like leadership stress and peer pressure are often felt with greater intensity within military communities. We are passionate about helping the global military community.

We want to see members of the armed forces everywhere come to know Christ. Currently this mission is being lived out not only in the United States but also with the militaries of 26 other countries. Our active strategies focus on Academies/ROTC, Bootcamps, Installations, Churches/Community Mobilization.

You can make a difference and engage the military in your midst. Lives can be changed, meaningful relationships can happen, and significant opportunities can be pursued. Together we can see this community grow so that everyone in the global military community knows someone who truly follows Jesus.

Cru Military (formerly Military Ministry) is a Division of Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ).  Our mission in Cru is to fulfill the Great Commission. We believe the process Jesus modeled to accomplish this goal is to win people to Christ, build them in their faith, and send them out to win, build, and send others. We believe that our part in joining Cru to fulfill the great commission is to focus on the global military community which includes Active duty, Guard, Reserve, veterans, retirees, and family members all around the world.

Fast Facts

•   Cru Military was established in 1965 as Military Ministry at the direct request of Crusade founder Bill Bright, who recognized the military as a strategic audience for Christian outreach.

•   Cru Military has more than 400 full and part-time staff and hundreds of volunteers across the US and in Europe.

•   Hundreds of military members receive Jesus Christ into their lives every week as the Holy Spirit works through Cru Military staff and volunteers.

•   Cru Military is mobilizing and training churches, counselors, and communities across America and around the world for effective ministry to military members, veterans and families in their midst.

•   The Resource Ministry of Cru Military publishes books, counselor training and seminars that are helping caring Christians reach out in love to the global military community.
