Zoyo Salutes our Military Children
Growing up as a military dependant, life was never dull. Whether it was changing schools three times within a school year, learning to speak German while stationed in Germany, or sirens going off testing the readiness of my dad’s unit—life was exciting, and in a strange way…normal. I never thought that years later I would also join the service, and my daughter would also grow up with memories much like mine.
April is the Month of the Military Child, and a proud one at that. In the Hampton Roads community you don’t have to look far to see the thousands of proud military children whose parents serve our country. The Hampton Roads community has been a place of duty for my family multiple times, and we call it home. Over the years, we have seen the strength in our community’s military child. Watching them volunteer, excelling in school, and setting new sports records—the Hampton Roads Military Child is a source of strength.
Recently, our family has embarked on a new mission: to open a Veteran owned business here in Hampton Roads. Zoyo Neighborhood Yogurt opened up last month by my wife who is leaving the Army after 13 years of service. Opening Zoyo has allowed us to see hundreds of military children walk through the doors and enjoy our delicious yogurt. Two of our employees are military dependant teenagers, and they continue to impress us with their discipline, professionalism, and intelligence. It’s no secret, military children are special!
