Virginia Beach, VA – As the May 9 Military Spouse Appreciation Day approaches, the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center is pleased to announce that active duty military dependents are now eligible for admission discounts on a routine basis.
The new discount also extends to retired military and their dependents. Active duty military member discounts remain in effect. All discounts are honored by showing the appropriate military ID card to Aquarium admissions staff.
Virginia Aquarium Deputy Director Cynthia Spanoulis said, “The military is a huge presence in Coastal Virginia and we are proud of its past and present members, especially in May during National Military Appreciation Month. We also appreciate the support of spouses and the sacrifices that family members make. We hope that this small discount makes it easier for military members to visit the Aquarium and learn to love Virginia’s marine environment as much as we do.”
A military discount offers active duty and retired members, their spouses and dependents, a $2 discount on each ticket: adults (ages 12-61) $20; children (ages 3-11) $13. Retired military seniors (age 62 and up) and their spouses receive an additional discount and their costs is $18 per admission. Combination tickets for Aquarium and movie admission is also reduced by $2 per admission.
The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums. The Aquarium is also a member of World Association of Zoos and Aquariums.The Aquarium is among the first attractions in the state to become certified as a Virginia Green Attraction.
