Yorktown Announces 2-day festival featuring Blues, Brews, and BBQ – A Festival on the River, and the Art at the River – A Juried Art Show

Historic Yorktown is excited to launch a 2-day event featuring three new events combining Blues, Brews, BBQ and the Arts the first weekend in May.
Village Events presents Blues, Brews, and BBQ - a Festival on the River on Saturday, May 3, at Riverwalk Landing on Chisciak Green from noon to 6 p.m. This event will showcase some of the best Blues musicians in the Hampton Roads area. Add to that 16 craft beers, incredible BBQ, and other gourmet foods and you have the makings for an incredible day. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
This event is co-sponsored by York County, Auto Haus, Water Street Grille, The Yorktown Crier and the Poquoson Post, and the York County Economic Development Authority. Proceeds will benefit The York Foundation for Public Education.

Also on Saturday and in keeping with the theme, Colonial Historic Beer Drinking Vessels exhibition will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Yorktown Freight Shed. Come see the Exhibition and Slide Show created by Michele Erickson, Potter and Ceramics Historian, and Merry Outlaw, Curator of Collections of Jamestown Rediscovery.
See historic reproduction examples from the Yorktown Poor Potter excavation, Colonial Williamsburg’s Collection from England. Mead jugs, puzzle jugs, and posset pots will be included. Ms. Outlaw will discuss the history of the Poor Potter. This event is sponsored by the Art at the River committee and is free and open to the public. For more information, call (757) 293-8553.
Love the Blues? Then stick around for the Sunday, May 4, Art at the River Juried Art Show at Riverwalk Landing on Chisciak Green from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. showcasing artwork by over 40 talented artists at the first juried art show on the beautiful Yorktown waterfront, including painters, sculptors, potters, jewelers, and many other innovative and creative artists. Come and select your "People’s Choice" artist. Live entertainment will include local favorite Ron Fetner at 12 p.m., followed by The Blues Empacts band at 2 p.m. Food and beverages will be available throughout the day.

Event parking is available at Riverwalk Landing in the two-level parking terrace. Additional parking is available at York Hall, the County Administration Building and the Courthouse/Finance Building Complex, which are all within a few blocks of the waterfront. The free Yorktown trolley runs daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
