Walmart Foundation Supports Operation Homefront

26 December 2018 by

Earlier this month, the Walmart Foundation announced a $250,000 grant to Texas-based Operation Homefront for their Critical Financial Assistance program. The grant will provide financial assistance to military families experiencing financial crises.

Operation Homefront provides critical financial assistance, transitional and permanent housing and family support services throughout the year to help prevent short-term challenges from turning into chronic, long-term struggles. The funding from the Walmart Foundation will serve approximately 300 families and help cover critical needs for military families facing a financial crisis.

In addition to financial assistance for military families, this support will also cover critical program support for caseworkers who will help create stability plans, provide counseling and make referrals to support resources in order to help families feel strong, safe and secure.

“Operation Homefront has a long history of supporting military families, and we are honored to continue to help them further their mission with this grant,” said Julie Gehrki, vice president of the Walmart Foundation. “Walmart, with the collective efforts of its associates, stores and clubs, and the Walmart Foundation are proud to have contributed more than $7 million in cash and in-kind donations to Operation Homefront since 2006.”
