EVENT DETAILS: For the fourth year, Williamsburg Parks and Recreation would like to honor and remember the sacrifice of our fallen Military, Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement on Memorial Day weekend by sharing their stories at Waller Mill Park.
Remembrance signs to be displayed at the park from Saturday, May 29 – Monday, May 31, 2021 from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at 901 Airport Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. All are welcome to share their story and walk the trail in honor of those who have passed in the line of duty.

MEMORIAL MILE--Gone but not forgotten: our Fallen Heroes Remembered
Williamsburg Parks and Recreation would like to honor and remember the sacrifice of our fallen Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement and Military members by sharing their stories on Memorial Day weekend at Waller Mill Park from Saturday, May 29 - Monday, May 31, 2021.
The public is invited to participate in the event by sharing their story about a fallen hero.
Remembrance signs will be displayed at Waller Mill Park to honor those that did not make it home. All are welcome to visit the park and read the stories of those that were taken too soon.
Submit A Fallen Hero Story--Submit by May 17th, 2021
If you would like to submit a fallen hero story, please provide the following information.
Contact Information
Please provide your name, contact phone #, contact email, relationship to person being remembered, fallen hero’s name, age (00/00/00-00/00/00), hometown and state and date of death.
The Person Being Remembered
The full name of the person you are honoring with their story. Police Department, Fire Department or Military branch (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, National Guard, Navy) and conflict served (Afghanistan and Iraq, September 11, Gulf War, Vietnam, Korea, WWII, WWI, Peacetime, other).
The Honoree’s Short Bio & Story
Provide us a bio with the above information that is short (100 words or less), and paints a picture of who the person was.
Photo
Please submit a photo along with your submission. Photos of person being honored in uniform are preferred by not necessary.
Submissions
Submit your story to parksandrecreation@williamsburgva.gov along with .jpg or .png photo. Information and photo can also be mailed to Quarterpath Recreation Center, 202 Quarterpath Road, Williamsburg VA 23185. Photos submitted by mail will not be returned.
Deadline
The deadline for submission is May 17, 2021.
