The Best and Worst of Hickam AFB You either love Hawai’i or you don’t love Hawai’i. I knew people who resented not having cooler weather or who didn’t like sand or beaches. What?! I showed up to my gym for my group workout with a pounding headache that my 1 small cup of coffee couldn’t even touch. I look up to the board for the the list of activities and I smirk when i see jumping jacks to start the day. “GREAT”, I thought, “I love jumping around….” sarcastically muttering while trying to keep my thoughts to myself. As the holidays come and go throughout the year, we know how to support our troops. The routine is established and the major celebrations are taken care of. The lone warriors are adopted for a Thanksgiving meal. Christmas means cookie drives and big unit parties. Deployments equal a rally cry for care packages.
